TM - Organize Your Speech

Project : Organize Your Speech - ToastMasters 2013/02/26

“When I was just a little girl
I asked my mother what will I be
Will I be pretty... will I be rich...
Here's what she said to me”

If you really curious to know what her mother was said to her, find this song and just listen to it. Do you really know the deep deep meaning behind it. This song is totally talking about a very true nature that human kind have. The curiosity of getting into know about our own future. So I'm going to talk about this very same topic today. Is it beneficial to get into know about our future? People who believe in astrology would totally agree with me, if I say it is. But what about people who do not believe in astrology, because of that thinking no one can predict it. They are all doing a huge fake. But do they really? Well think about a billiard table or a carom table. When a player hit the striker disk he knows where the disk and the piece what it hit will goes. Well, player knows the future, isn't it? It is simply the physics. A theory which is defined by a long time analysis, with experiments, observations and conclusions. Likewise someone can say we can define a theory to predict the future by a long time analysis. Well it is a very doubtful question.

Everyone likes to know how they would look like when they grow older. What would they do in next 10 years, what will happens to this world. You know 1000s of question people asks from astrologers. Some of you might think if you can have that prediction of your future, you can change whatever bad happens to you. But whatever future that you could always break, so any prediction would be false. Isn’t it?

Anyway whether it is predictable or not, I'm saying future has to be uncertain to enjoy the true value of life. Well it's really ok to not know what the future holds.
Why I'm saying that....

1. It takes the pressure off
If you know something bad is on your way, you'll get panicked even before it arrives. And there will be no space to other good things on your mind. Just face for this moment and give your best shot to overcome. And of course when a good thing coming on your way, feel the joy comes with the surprise. And knowing exactly what's coming would take it all the way.

2. Saves time & money
Think of the time and money that we spend on trying to predict the future. Why don't you spend those time and money to do things you really enjoy, right at this moment?

3. Challenges, Mistakes, Learn and Achievers
When we understand that we can’t control what happens, we can devote more of our energy to how we respond and what we learn. Not knowing the future will enable you to experience the unexpected, much like a detour. It allows us to explore new things. Whatever will be, will be. Let's face the unknown. Be like Water. Shapeless, formless. Just adapt to the environment as you goes. We can't control what happens to us but we can control our responses. Making decisions in the face of the unknown is an essential part of the human experience.

So I'll wrap up my speech like this.

"Yesterday is History, Tomorrow a Mystery, Today is a Gift, That’s why it's called the Present"

Thank You!
